Upscale Holiday look on a Dollar Store Budget
West Elm Nutcrackers
Who has seen these West Elm Nutcrackers? Oh, I love them! They are so sleek, cool, and modern. Just a little out of my budget. How did I get a similar look for a lot less? I am going to show you my take on a West Elm Knock-off Nutcracker using spray paint.

Dollar Tree Nutcrackers
I found these Nutcracker Soldiers at the Dollar Tree– for you got it, $1 each. As is they are cute and so affordable to add to your holiday decor. They would look great in a kids room, or just to add to your Nutcracker collection.
Even though these Nutcrackers are cute- they just weren’t going to go with the modern look of my holiday decor. I knew that I could get the look of the West Elm Nutcrackers with just a little paint and time.
Spray Paint is magic!!
I didn’t do much prep for these knock-off Nutcrackers. I just pulled all of the white hair off and took them outside. Pulling a can of Krylon Flat Black spray paint from my paint stash in the garage, I gave these Nutcrackers three full coats of paint. Making sure to paint the undersides and all the nooks and details of the nutcrackers. Letting them dry bewteen coats for at least 15 minutes.
