The Front and Back doors

I have said before that we are renting our little house. It is cute, it has a nice yard for our dogs, it is close to the bus line for the kids, and it is just what we need for right now. That said, it is a rental. It is a brown house, with beige walls, it’s nothing special. I am trying hard to do things that are not permanent changes. Everything we do, we need to be able to take with us.

How does that include the doors?
 Paint!
Here is a before of the back door. If you can look past the trash and recycling cans, you can see a dull brown door.

Here is the front door. Dull brown again. The trim around the little windows were the same cream color as the shutters. Except the middle one, I was trying out a green color. I thought if I just painted the trim, I would like it.
Nope.

In one afternoon, I painted both doors. Two coats of paint each. Each door was a sample pot of paint from Lowe’s. I love those samples! I had gotten a few “free” coupons from magazines. I choose these colors without any projects in mind. I just like the colors. The best part? I still have a bit of both of  the paint colors left for any needed touch ups

The back door is this great kiwi-green. So pretty. And it looks great with the brown screen door and the brown siding on the house. It makes me happy.

My favorite color is blue. I just love this turquoise blue. I feel like the style and age of this house calls for this color blue. It looks more gray in the photo above from the screen in the door.

I love the color here. It is such a 50’s-60’s blue. This photo is more like what it looks like in person. It is just the right color for this house.
I know some people feel like paint is permanent. I don’t feel that way. It just took an afternoon to change, so not much time at all. I also know that there is a can of the brown paint in the basement, so I won’t have to spend any money to change it. When it comes time to move, I will just have to put in a little bit of time, and it will be back the way it was.
What do you think?
Would you paint?
