A Brighter Shade of Turquoise

In my last post I painted two doors with sample pots of paint. I just love those little pots of paint. I had some coupons for free samples from Lowe’s, I got a few of my favorite colors. Even at $4, they are such a good price. I have even been lucky enough to get some in the miss-tint section for .75 cents. For small painting projects they are such a good choice.
My china cabinet was painted over a year ago. I painted it turquoise that had a bit of gray in it. My old house had gray walls, and it looked brighter against the walls there.
Here is a before photo from the Best Christmas Present Ever posting. Pretty, but I felt like for this house it should be brighter. The yellow in this wall color made the gray-turquoise of the cabinet look dull and dirty.

In this before photo you can really see the gray undertones in the color. I knew I would brighten it up, it just needed to wait until I had time. And the perfect paint.

I had a sample pot of paint that was a brighter shade of turquoise that I knew would work. In this new photo you can really tell the difference. I love how much brighter this color is. It is such a happy color. I smile when I walk by the cabinet, it makes me so happy

I had used a little more than half of the pot to paint two coats on the outside of the cabinet. I then added a tube of craft white paint to the rest. I stirred it very well and used the slightly lighter shade of turquoise for the inside of the cabinet. It made the inside really pop. I then added some great gray and white striped wrapping paper to the back of the cabinet. It’s just for fun, its not permanent. I cut the paper to size and put it up with blue tape.  I can peel it off, and go back to the silver painted backing anytime I want. For now, I think it’s fun.

I really love how it turned out. I didn’t make any big changes, a small change of color and some striped paper that can be removed was all that was needed.
What do you think?
Worth the time and work?
Or not much of a difference to notice?
