DIY House Number Sign

Good Day to you!

I am so happy that you are here.

As I have said before, we are renting our cute little house. We love the neighborhood, and the area.

Here is a little project I’ve done to make the house more of a home. And when we leave, it can come with us. A DIY House Number Sign.

Here are the original house numbers. Perfectly fine, and they are doing the job. But I wanted something more. And I love a good craft…

I bought a thrift store piece of art to hang over the original numbers. This sign is not permanent, it hangs on two small nails over the numbers. I can take it down at anytime- no harm done.

I painted over the thrift store art and added plastic numbers from Lowes with glue.

This was the first time I painted the Numbers sign. I wanted it to be bright with the citrus green border and yellow numbers. I used foam stamps for the flowers- easy peasy. It stayed this way for about two years. I liked it a lot. But the bright colors were sometimes too much for some of the Porch decor I was using for different seasons.

You may notice that the mail box is black here. The mail box was old, worn, and rusting.  I have since painted it with a dark gray paint. I know that this is more of a permanent change, but the box is clean and pretty now.

About a year ago, I painted the whole sign over. I wanted to make it a little more of an accent piece. And not stand out so much. A bright blue border to match the door, silver numbers on a dark gray background, with black accent borders. I liked it, but the blue was wrong. It felt off, so I waited for inspiration to come.

See the mailbox? Better right?

This is how it looks today. I decided that it did need to stand out and be interesting to look at.

I removed the numbers, cleaned and spray painted them bright silver. I sanded down the whole thrifted art piece and spray painted it with dark silver. And because I have been loving Barn Quilts so much, I drew out and painted a geometric pattern. The house numbers went back on, but this time with a different placement.

I love how it looks now. It is an Art piece once again. I love the silvers and black and teal blue. This was an easy project- every single time I did it. I love how paint can change the look of anything! And if you change your mind more than once- paint it over again! Just as I have done here.

What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by to see my little blog.

I appreciate it!
