Let me show you how I made my own version of a $120 Anthropologie Pom Pom wreath for under $20!
I have been crafting up a storm over here! I love that I have all of this creative energy lately. Getting crafting can be very rewarding to make something that you’ve had your eye on, but maybe not the budget for.
May I present to you my DIY Anthropologie Dupe Pom Pom Wreath
Anthropologie Pom Pom Wreath
Who doesn’t love Anthropologie?
I am so drawn to the creative and unique items that have been made by true artisans. I love the handmade high-end quality of the Anthropologie Pom Pom Wreaths that they have been selling for the last several years. I remember the first time I saw one of these beautys- I was so upset with myself for not thinking of it before! Such a simple idea that makes such a big design impact.
At more than $100 each- the Anthro Wreaths are beautiful but also more than a bit out of my budget.
Not the first time I made this dupe!
A few years ago I made this DIY Anthropologie Dupe Pom Pom Wreath using thrift store yarn and a dollar store form. I used multiple colors- Cream, Gray, Blue, Black, and Purple. All colors that I still love. And yes I still have this wreath, but it has just been sitting in the basement.
If I made the Pom Pom wreath once-
I can certainly make it again!
For this DIY Anthro dupe you are only going to need a few supplies.
- Yarn- in whatever colors you want for your wreath. I used creams, whites, and light greys for this wreath
- Scissors- make sure that they are sharp- you will be doing a lot of cutting
- Wreath form- I used a simple wire one from the Dollar Tree
Crafter Tip: Do yourself a favor and buy more yarn than you think you will need. Then you can save yourself the extra trip to the store that I took 😉
Easy DIY Pom Pom steps
Making Pom Poms is pretty easy. Just follow my super simple steps-
- Using a base to wrap the yarn- I used a small piece of wood. But you can really use anything- I have seen where people use books, their hands, and even forks to make small pom poms. Wrap your yarn around your base until you feel like it’s pretty full. For thin yarns, I wrapped 50 or more times, for thick yarns 20-25 times.
- Slide your wrapped bundle of yarn off your base and slide a 12-inch piece of yarn around the middle, tie, and tighten. This will cinch in the yarns starting to give it the ball shape for the pom-pom
- Then using your scissors cut all of the loops, and fluff out your yarn strands.
- And that is really it! Just repeat those steps many, many times.
This was my pile of pom-poms after a few days. I had made all of these pom-poms while watching tv in the evenings after dinner.
I love a good- what I call “coffee-table-craft”. You know those crafts- they don’t need glue or paint and you can do them on the couch, with all of the supplies on the coffee table. It’s a thing!
anyway…
Tie those Pom-Poms to the form
Once you have your pom-poms all made, you can start tying them to the wire wreath form. This step is just so satisfying, you can really see the DIY Anthropologie Dup Pom Pom Wreath come together here.
It was at this point that I realized that I needed more yarn and pom-poms to make my DIY Anthropologie Dupe Pom Pom Wreath to really come together. I ended up buying two more skeins of yarn at the craft store and used all of both to make my Pom Pom wreath really full and fat!
My budget for this wreath was pretty small as usual. I had been collecting yarn from the thrift stores for a couple of weeks and had spent under $10 for several balls of what I had though was going to be enough yarn. It was when I went back to the craft store and had to buy two new skeins that brought my budget up to just under $20. The yarn was on sale, but I bought the larger skeins to make sure I didn’t need another trip to the store. I think that if I had collected more yarn from the thrift store I could have save $5-8 on this project. But even with what I did spend this is still a very affordable project.
And well under the original’s $120 price tag!

Here she is all finished and hanging on the front door. I have to say that I love her! She is so heavy and full. She took a lot of time and yarn, but I think that she was so worth it!
Tell me what you think- I would love to know if you would make a DIY Anthropologie Dupe Pom Pom Wreath too!
