Boho Ornaments Crafts for the Tree
For this year’s Christmas tree I am going a bit out of my comfort zone and using mixed metal-colored ball ornaments. Gold, silver, copper, gunmetal, and a dark brown. **My Decorated Christmas Tree Post to come!**
To balance out all the shiny metals I am going for a few raw wood beaded elements. Simple Boho Ornaments Crafts that I can make while watching a holiday movie or two.
I have been loving the look of raw wood and have been using it in my decorating all year long. I think that by using it in my holiday decorating it will blend with the Boho casual vibe that we have in our home.
Here are the few simple supplies that you will need to make my Boho Ornament Crafts for Your Tree:
- Wood beads- in multiple sizes. I buy my raw wood beads from any craft store. I buy them on sale or when I have a coupon.
- Your choice of yarn- I fell in love with this ball of wavey cream colored yarn. I think that the color is so close to the color of the wood beads.
- Twine or Beading Cord- I actually used both, but you could use either one that you have on hand.
- The tools you’ll need: Scissors, Needle, Tape, and a scrap piece of Wood
Boho Ornament Craft #1
Yarn, Twine, & Wood Bead Tassels
Now, I know that I am not the first one to make a tassel and put it on the tree. And you might even be able to find a better tutorial out there.
But I am going to try my best and walk you through the very simple steps it takes to make these tassels.
My hope is that you’ll make them for every season!
- Using a small scrap piece of wood- wrapped your yarn around it about 20 or so times. My yarn was thick, so 20 times made it pretty full. But if your yarn is thinner- just keep wrapping! Your tassel- your rules 🙂
- Then cut a 12″ piece of twine and fold it in half. Slip it under the wrapped yarn and put the long ends through the loop.
- Slide the twine to the edge of the wood and tighten
- Then cut the yarn on the opposite side from the twine to release it from the scrap piece of wood.
** I hope that my directions make sense. Please let me know if they don’t! **
- Cut a second piece of twine about 6 to 8 inch long. Wrap and tie it about 1 inch from the top
- Trim all of your yarn in a straight line. And clip the twine ends too!
- Using a small piece of tape- wrap a small piece on the ends of the twine
- Then slide two raw wood beads on the twine
- Tie a knot with the twine just above the raw wood beads and another 2 inches higher to make a loop for the hanger.
- And done!
I just love how these Boho Craft yarn tassels turned out. The wavy yarn and the raw wood beads look so pretty and elegant. They would be beautiful in a garland too!
Boho Ornament Craft #2
Raw Wood Bead Garlands
I have always loved beaded garlands on Christmas trees, but I’ve never had one made with raw wood beads. Time to craft!
For my garlands, I used beading cord, taped the end, and strung raw wood beads in random order. Just so easy and perfect for the look, that I’m going for this year!
Boho Ornament Craft #3
Wood Bead Drop Ornaments
Now that you got the hang of stringing raw wood beads on twine- let’s make a few Wood Bead Drop Ornaments.
- Cut a 12 inch piece of twine and string one small bead on it and center it on the twine
- Next place a small piece of tape on both of the ends together
- String on 5 to 6 wood beads- making as many different patterns as you wish
- Finish it off by placing a knot on top of the beads and another knot 2 inches up for the hanger
You can make a whole trees worth for just a few dollars.
Pretty and budget friendly- you know I like that!
Well, that’s it!
Yarn, Twine, and Raw Wood Beads. It’s amazing how using just a few supplies you can make pretty little Boho Ornament Crafts for your Tree.
