Thifted Treasures makeovers- #1

Hi There!
Here is a quick update for a few of my thrifted treasures. Just the little fixes I have made for them to be clean and fresh looking. And how I may have used them in my decorating. This is the first in a new series of postings on my little blog.
Do you remember this 70’s bamboo table? Dirty? yes. Ugly? depends….

Cool details? Oh yeah, yes.

I washed this baby three times with a biodegradable cleaner, and rinsed just as many times. There was no sanding involved, but I did make sure all areas were smooth. Pulling up any frayed “hairs” that came up from the washing.
I used a primer, and a high gloss gray spray paint. Three coats of paint later- here she is on the porch for Halloween.
Now, she is modern and clean and pretty, even with skulls and spiders.

I got this awesome table for $5, she was just begging to be rescued. She could be so much more.

The bad paint job, needed to go.
She is a great little table just needing love.

Here is a great trick for stripping paint:
cover the surface with the gel stripper, then cover with a plastic trash bag.
Why? So the gel doesn’t dry out! The longer that it stays a “goo”, the better it works.

A couple of days later, I took off the bag and scraped and scraped the paint and gel off.

I think at least two layers of paint came off. Those little mirrors came so clean!

This table is not done yet. She still needs to be sanded and painted. But I really wanted to show the progress so far.
Can you see it? So much potential!

This little dirty tin can was only .25 cents at a garage sale. I hate the yellow dirty brown finish, but love the shape.
How to fix? Bright silver spray paint! I love this little tin can now.
There you go! A couple of dirty items that needed some love and where they are now.
What have you made over?
Thanks for stopping by! Come back soon 🙂
