Paint is a Wonder! An old stool makeover with a can of paint.

Old stuff- I love it! Worn, used, and loved.

But sometimes an old item needs a new life. I am here to show you a stool that I bought at an Estate sale for just a couple of dollars that got a new life with a new coat of paint.

Here is my vintage, or just plain old step stool. He had a few paint drips here and there. Both steps were a bit rusty and the legs were rusty too at the feet. He was still very sturdy and strong, and I have been using him as a plant stand. But the color was just all kinds of wrong. I hated the brown. Sorry, there’s no other way to put it. That brown had to go!

This make over only took one day to complete. It started with one trip to the store, where I bought: two cans of spray paint in Teal, one can of rust prohibitor, and new plastic feet. Then the simple steps of :

  • clean
  • sand down rough spots, then clean again
  • spray the whole stool with the can of theĀ  rust prohibitor, let dry
  • then 2-3 coats of Teal spray paint. Let dry and cure for a couple days before use.

I really love how it turned out. This stool has a many very pretty years ahead for him, in his new Teal coat.

Don’t you love paint? Have you made over something with just paint? Tell me about it in the comments below. I would love to hear from you.
