After having a bit of a Decorator’s Block, I knew that this years Halloween Front Porch needed to highlight all of my DIY Poison bottles. For the last three years I have made a few different ones, but this year I saved bottles and jars for a couple of months. I wanted to have an excess amount of bottles and jars. Abundant and cluttered that was kind of the look I was going for. A Mad Scientist’s Laboratory kind of look.
We have a pretty deep, cement slab front porch at our cute little rental house. It makes for great holiday decorating. Theres lots of space to play around with. Here I filled the right side of the porch with my wood work bench and two metal shelves. This gave me a lot of space and varying heights to layer the bottles and jars with Pumpkins and other spooky items.
Layering bottles, candle holders, pumpkins and lanterns. A few crows, and small buckets, a twig wreath painted black, and a burlap garland. I just kept adding till it looked full, almost too full.
This was in the beginning, when not all of the bottles had labels yet. Each day I was working on adding labels with plain old white glue. I also put broken corks into the bottle tops.
For clear glass bottles and jars I collected, I would pour craft paint to the inside to give it color. I used blue, green, orange, brown, and silver. I also painted all of the jars lids painted black.
Happy Halloween from the Mad Scientists Lab!!!
Thanks for stopping by.
