Hello.
It is past Labor Day, is the Summer over? I hope not!
We are still having 85+ degree weather here in Michigan. It feels like Summer, that is for sure!
Today I am back with another look at the Back yard. I have been showing snippets of the Back yard and Patio decorated on a budget for the Summer. This is another sitting area on the Patio.
I wanted a bright, colorful, collected Bohemian look. I love this hot pink Ikat patterned outdoor rug. I bought this lovely rug from World Market a couple of years ago. It was less than $50 and is a plastic weave that you can wash down with the garden hose. It clearly defines the sitting area. And the hot pink is a nice contrast to all of the blues I love so much.
I decorated with lots of patterns and textures. Wood, metal, painted finishes, floral patterned pillows and Ikat patterned cushions. Candle holders and trays round out the accessories.
I used a lot of potted flowers and plants. In many different sized containers and colors. I bought the hot pink flowers to tie in with the rug. I used metal shelving, a wood stump, and my found Modern cube table to give height and interest. You can see the makeover for the cube table here.
The furniture is set up in a conversation square, with a large coffee table to set your drink on. The coffee table is a project that my boyfriend and I did together. The herringbone pattern on top was made with wood shims cut to size and glued to plywood. It is huge and heavy, way too big for our living room. But I love using it out here. The top was sealed with an outdoor sealer to protect it, and the legs painted with outdoor paint.
The vintage loveseat is set on the Garage wall side, with two chairs on the side. A classic furniture arrangement. The loveseat was a thrifted find for $25, and I made the seat cushions from supplies that came from Jo Ann Fabric store. I love how cozy it all feels. Just like a indoor living space.
Lots of blues, pinks, and greens. And lots of patterns and plants. Lots of thrifted finds and projects I made. Each piece is used and loved. And it all works together.
Do you think I got the Bohemian look I was going for? I do, I love it!
A bright colorful sitting area waiting for the next party, or Saturday morning breakfast. To enjoy as long as the weather permits.
Well, I think that Summer is almost over. But we can enjoy this Patio for a couple more weeks for sure. And come the cool Fall weather we can fire up the Fire pit and bring out some cozy blankets.
Let me know what you think! I would love to hear from you.
Thanks for stopping by!
