Hi There!
In my last post, I showed some photos from last year- 2015. A cute little spot by our garage. Nothing special, but I do decorate it a little for the summer. You can see how it looked in 2014, and 2015.
I did the work, so I may as well show it off right?
We found this plant stand behind the garage when we moved in. Old, rusted, and missing some parts. I put it together with the best I could with zip ties and spray painted it. It looks a thousand times better!
I used Rust-oleum Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint. It is the perfect brown/black color. The stand has two “mirrored” sides, I only used one side here. I put Marigolds and a Rosemary plant in some cute pots, and placed my favorite watering can here for a quick watering of the plants.
I love this kitschy frog planter. I got the planter at an estate sale for $1. I love how the frogs are smiling, and their little round toes.
They make me laugh.
Here is the other “mirrored” side of the planter. Again more pots filled with herbs, Lemon thyme, Lemon Basil, and Rosemary. I have read that these types of herbs will help keep mosquitoes away. We will see…
The blue plates used as saucers were from the dollar store years ago. I have used them for plants ever since I got them. They add more color than terra cotta saucers.
My cute little alligator watering can is back for another year in the yard. I have had him for at least 10 years, maybe 12 or 15. He is just now starting to look like he may need a paint job. I think we will wait and see how worse for wear he is next year, and then decide.
The terra cotta pots have been here all year, even through the winter. A couple of the pots have cracked, but still, they look good. Large glass marbles cover the drainage holes.
The sleeping man Welcome sign, is a plaster thrift store find. He cost more than my $1 budget, he was $6.95. A lot for the thrift store, but I really liked him. When I brought him home he wasn’t painted, he was plain and chipping. He needed my help! So, I painted him with craft paint and put a clear sealer over the paint to help protect it.
The garden mosaic art piece with the broken terra cotta bits and the different glass beads have moved around a bit. They don’t look as organized as they did last year. You can see bits of dirt and dried leaves and things.
I still really like how this looks. It’s just a pretty little spot. It didn’t cost me a lot of money, and it is very low maintenance. So low, I haven’t done anything to it this year but put the marbles back on the drainage holes. And when we move, if I want to I can pick it all up and take it with me.
What are you decorating in your yard?
Any good projects?
Thanks for stopping by!
