A Sweet Little Spot by the Garage- circa: Summer 2015

Hi There!

2015
The year I wanted to blog, but had a hard time finding the time for it.
I did a lot of projects, and took a lot of photos. I just didn’t blog about any of it.
2016
The year I want to get back on track. Lets take a look back at what was done, so we can move forward. Here we go!
We have this cute little spot by the garage. I did blog about it here once.
This week getting ready for Summer entertaining, I redecorated the back patio and this cute little spot.
This post will be part 1 of a 2 part series, the next post will show how it looks today.
When we moved in to our cute little rental house,  this little spot already had the bricks outlining the bed. I have filled it with broken terra cotta pots that were found, given to me, and bought at garage sales. I filled the bed to look like a mosaic. An art piece in the garden, if you will.
Pretty, easy, cheap, and fun!

I love these blue glazed pots, so pretty. I stacked this one on top of an overturned terra cotta pot. I like to give little vignettes like this, lots of different heights for visual interest. This alligator is a kids watering can. I have had him for years, ever since my son was a little boy and had the matching rain boots. I have always loved his little face, the alligator and my son!

This is one of those cute Ikea carts. I got mine at a garage sale, of course. I love the light turquoise color, it makes the greens of the pottery and the leaves of the plants really pop!

I filled the cart with some lime green colored pottery. Much of it I used on the front porch this year. Here on the cart I didn’t fill them with plants or anything, I just put them out for color. You can still make things look pretty and interesting with out spending any money.

I had gotten a bunch of terra cotta pots at a garage sale for $2. There were so many different sizes. I love the white weathering on them, it is the salt being pulled out of the dirt through the terra cotta pot. You can find many tutorials on how to fake this with paint, but these are real. I placed a little stone Frog here on another overturned pot. The Frog is like the King here. He overlooks this little area. Too cute. I placed marbles on the drainage holes of a few smaller pots.

I think the pots and the marbles make it look a bit like the Frog’s castle. It’s silly, I know.

In the box of pots from the garage sale, they were a couple of pots that were broken. I broke them into smaller pieces to fill in this area more. And added more glass beads/marbles from garage sales too.

Its not supposed to look like anything. And I am sure some people might even find this to look messy. I don’t care, I think it looks cool and pretty.

More terra cotta pots, and marbles, and a little stone turtle.

You can see a bit of clover growing in between the stones.

Bricks, broken bits of terra cotta pots, red, green, and blue glass rocks, pebbles from the garden.
I love it all.

Pretty plants.

Pretty furniture and pottery in colors I love.

A galvanized metal watering can.

And a silly alligator in the mix too.
What is your favorite little spot?
