Hi friends 🙂 I got a couple of questions for you.
Do you go thrifting? or Resale shopping? Charity shops?
What about Antiquing? Junkin’? Flea Markets?
Can you be found at an Estate or Garage sales? Church sales?
Do you look online? Craigslist?
It makes no matter how you shop. I love it all, and have done all of the above! Glad to know that your one of my people. So,
When you’re out and about thrifting are you just looking? Or like me, do you have an item on your Wish List? You know that “Home Decor Unicorn” that you want, but never seem to be able to find. Until one day, you see it. It has an ugly glass lamp on top of it, and boxes of fabric in front of it. But still you see it. You walk towards it, and hope it has a price tag. You hope that it is in your thrift store budget. And then you read the tag, and it is in your budget! And it’s in fantastic condition! And you want it! And you quickly grab the tag and buy it! You bring it home, and can’t believe your luck! And you decorate with it over and over with it.
Has that ever happened to you? Well, it happened to me. Meet my Unicorn, a Double Basin Washtub with a Galvanized Zinc Top.
It has the original paint and wheels. It has just the right amount of rust and age. It’s perfect!
I saw one on Pinterest a few years back. It was painted a spring green and was used on a porch as a planter for ferns. I needed that “picture” in my life. Silly, I know. It can seem overindulgent to want an antique just to put a plant on. I recognized that, but still here’s my picture. The washtub with two ferns on top, and I love it.
Now see how pretty she is mixed with other decor. A thrifted crate, a galvanized Dog, and more plants. Eclectic farmhouse goodness.
As the weather turned to Fall, the flowers were changed. I added a thrifted chair, a stone crock, and a small wood box that I stenciled. And look how big those Ferns got! It is amazing to me how small changes can invigorate a vignette.
What is on your wish list? Have you ever found that “unicorn” you were looking for? I would love to hear about. Please leave a comment below or follow me on Facebook or Instagram.
