I only went thrifting one day this past week. So I only have a couple of things to show you, but I think they were worth the trip.
An old school hexagon terrarium. The back three panels are mirror. Yes, it was very dirty and greasy.
My favorite part is that the backing is coming off the mirrors. See the age-rust spots? I love those! This planter was only a dollar, it will cost more than that to get rocks and plants to fill it.
A blue bubble glass planter from Ikea. I have another one like this, only a bit smaller. This one was $1 at the thrift store, the one I got new from Ikea was $6, I think. Maybe I should have waited?
This had some dirt still in it when I found it, but that can be cleaned. I always thought my other container was “blue” glass. But you can see at the bottom of the photo where the “blue” has been scraped away. Bummer. I still love the color and shape of this pot/planter/vase/container anyway.
I love wood trays and tool caddies like this one. I always buy them if the price is right. This one? $1, sounds about right to me!
I love that you can tell it was homemade. See the pencil lines? And the arch of the top is a bit wonky from the jig saw.
More pencil lines on this side too. I can’t decide if I am going to paint it, or stain it. I see it having some little pots of flowers inside once it is done. Again the price was only $1.
Two new still in the plastic mirrors from Ikea. These are so cute. I love little mirrors like these. They are fun to decorate with. I think I am going to paint some stripes on these and put them inside my china cabinet. They were each $1. That was the price of the day.
Okay, I am sure you are wondering why I would get a couple of middle school art projects and a smiling frog piece. Not exactly my style. Are they?
Well, the plan is to paint over all of them! I will use these canvases to create my own art work.
For $3 total I got three canvases. I couldn’t have gotten one new at that price.
There you have it, $8 total for the day.
Do you think the trip was worth it?
