I love Halloween. Always have.
I love to dress up, I love the bite size candy, and I love to decorate for Halloween.
When my kids were younger, I did lot of cute decorating. Smiling Jack-o-lanterns, scary cats, and lots of orange and black.
This year I wanted to decorate for me. I wanted to go Gothic, just like in high school. 😉
I used a lot of black, some white, purple, silver, gray, and just a bit of orange, blue and green.
This is a photo heavy posting, I hope you can hold on to the end with me. 😉
Here is a full shot of the porch. I love the elegant look of a Gothic style.
I love these Dollar store Ravens. I took branches from the yard and sprayed them with flat black paint. The birds have wire to hook on the branches, I also added a bit more wire I had on hand.
I love my purple Potato vine, it looks black here. It so fits in with this style.
This small cupboard belongs to my Daughter. I got it at a garage sale when she was about 3 or 4 years old. Her favorite color at the time was this yellow that the inside is painted. All the furniture in her room at the time was this color. When she hit her early teen years, she wanted all black furniture. All I did was do a wash over the yellow with black, to give it a shabby-chic look. We had this cupboard in storage, she is not using in her room right now. But she said I could use it here for Halloween.
Thanks Girl 🙂
The yellow is a great back ground color to highlight all the black items on the shelfs.
I saw a sign like this on Pinterest, I had to have one of my own. I had two of these chalkboards in the basement to use. I made them from picture frames, scrap wood and chalkboard paint.
These white tin vases came from a garage sale. The lady only wanted .25 cents each, even for me I thought that was too low. I gave her a dollar for both of them.
The flowers are from the Dollar store, as well as the mesh fabric hanging on the shutters.
The purple bottle, I had on hand. The two glass vases were given to me, I just sprayed them black. I put the smaller one on a pillar candle stand to give it some height.
I had these three candle sticks left over from my own garage sale. They were all thrifted, the one in the middle is wood, the other two are brass. I just spray painted them all flat black.
One of my DIY poison bottles, and some purple glass bottles I had.
More thrifted candlesticks painted flat black. Another purple bottle.
Another DIY poison bottle, and a black flower pot I found by the side of the road.
An old wine bottle, a Dollar store wineglass painted silver, and two little glasses painted black.
These rain boots are my Daughter’s. I love that they are blue and they have skulls.
I made this specimen board after seeing one on Pinterest. I will be doing a post on it soon.
This wicker table was a Thrifted Treasure from a while back. I painted it this awesome gray color.
I put Dollar store skulls and pumpkins under the table, like a cage.
Here is another idea that I stole from Pinterest. I made this sign for our address sign. I think it is so funny. I will do a posting on how I made it soon.
There you have it, my Halloween front porch. I love how it turned out. It is very Gothic and pretty and a little bit scary.
What do you think?
Are you decorating for Halloween?
Come November the porch decor will be changing, come back and see.
I have plans….. 😉
