I am from Michigan. My whole life I have lived in South East Michigan. Here we sometimes have some pretty crazy weather and we see all four of the seasons. Sun, Rain, Snow, Wind, Cloudy, Ice, Warm, and did I mention COLD??? – and I’m just talking about the weather we’ve gotten in the last week! Now, while all of these conditions are not unusual we don’t normally have them this late in the so-called Spring season. It might Rain a lot in April, and we might even get one or two bits of Snow. But since I have wanted to work outside on our Patio we have had ONE nice day of weather! One. Every other day has had Rain, Snow or we even had Freezing Rain- that’s right Ice. Ugh.
This month I am taking part in a blogger challenge, the One Room Challenge. For six weeks 20 interior designers and almost 250 guest participants each makeover one room. I am taking part as a Guest participant and working on our Patio. Or at least I’m trying to work on our Patio 😉 You can see my plans in week one, and a couple of Flamingo pillows I made in week two.
I look forward to decorating our little Patio every spring since we moved into our cute rental home. Each summer I will make a few changes, add new projects or DIY’s, and each time I enjoy it. When I was deciding which space I should tackle for this challenge, it seemed like a no-brainer! The Patio, of course. But Mother Nature has had other plans for me and my time this week.
Here’s a quick list of what DID get done, and it’s not much:
- We were able to rake up the leftover winter leaves in the flower beds. Now we are just waiting for the mulch to be delivered, which has been ordered by our landlord.
- More fabric has been bought for cushions. It has also been washed and dried, but not cut or sewn yet.
- Two chair cushions were bought while out thrifting- two new cushions for $6!
- Little candle holders and accessories have also been bought while out thrifting.
- All of the furniture, grill, and firepit have been removed from the patio.
- The cement floor was scrubbed once with a cleaner and water. We expect to scrub it down at least one more time before we can move forward with staining.
- A plan has been solidified to make over the umbrellas. I am just waiting for some supplies to arrive.
Now, I have NO photos of the above tasks that have happened. I doubt they would be very exciting anyway. So, today I will show a couple more photos of the Flamingo cushions I made. I am pretty jazzed about them after all!
The DIY Flamingo pillows that I made last week go here on my new Wicker Loveseat! I bought this loveseat for myself- for my birthday in February. I had a BIG birthday this year, one that ended in a Zero. I decided to splurge and buy the loveseat I had my eye on. I got it online from Target. It was just the frame, without any cushions, and they were having an extra percentage sale. All of those discounts combined made it such a good price that I just went for it!
The Navy Blue seat cushions were found at another store. They were the right size and a good price. My first plan was to use cushions I already had, but they were too short and made it uncomfortable to sit down.
Well, I am hoping to have a more productive week in Week 4. I hope you stop by again and see how it’s going. Thank you for checking out my little space.
