An English Garden Front Porch

Hi There!

I am so glad you’re here.

I have been craving some traditional decor lately.

So, I am switching up some of my porch furniture with “new” paint colors.

Traditional, neutral paint colors. Crazy, right?

This time around, I did my take on a English Garden front porch.

Dark Traditional colors for the furniture and pink Petunia flowers in the pots.

This is my wicker table, that I pulled out of an neighbor’s trash. It has been so many different colors. This time around I went with a traditional dark brown. I started spray painting it, and it kept soaking up the paint. I used two cans of dark brown and still needed one more coat. So, I pulled out half a can of my favorite Rust-oleam Oiled Rubbed bronze for the last coat. Now, it has a nice semi-soft glossy finish. I love it! And it is dark enough that it stands out against the brown siding on the house.

These two little benches were bright blue until recently. I chose two different gray colors that compliment each other well. I think that they will be great grounding pieces for all of my front porch decorating. And if I change my mind? It’s only paint!

I love having a little spot to put a bag or something on while I open the door. That is why there is nothing on the dark gray bench. If you were wondering.

I just love blue glazed pottery. I may have a lot of it. I took a hanging pot from Lowes to fill the pot. That is one trick that I use a lot. I buy the hanging pots they have for $8 to $12, and take them out of their plastic pots to fill my favorite pottery. It is such a money saver. And the pots look full right from the start.

I have two of these little stone birds. They were a gift many years ago and came from Smith and Hawken. This was long before they had a line at Target. I just love that they have such great quality items that never go out of style.

I got these blue glass jars from the Target Dollar spot. They are so awesome, and look very similar to old Mason jars. I also love that they have galvanized lids. Too perfect!

This cute little metal pot came from a Free table where I work. Once a year we put out a table at work where anyone can drop off items to give away. Then anyone else can take the items they want. At the end of the week everything that was left was dropped off at a thrift store. Win, Win, Win.

Anyway, I got two of these metal pots that were a shiny red color. Not my favorite, so I spray painted them with a dark gray color. Much better. I planted a small green and yellow ivy inside. What could be more English that an ivy right?

Another blue jar, and a small glass jar candle holder. I believe it also came from the Target Dollar spot last year.

A dark wicker table, blue pottery, galvanized metals, and pink and green plants. Do you see the English Garden style coming through?

Layers of colors and textures.

More blue glass jars, a stone figure, galvanized metal pot, and the cement pot I made over. After living with him for a couple of days, I painted the rim of the pot with a light yellow paint. Just to give it more of a “true” blue glazed pottery look.

I love this little stone frog, he is too cute. He is sitting next to another Target Dollar spot glass candle holder. I am drawn to all things that are blue, and a dollar!

On top of the wicker table is the other stone bird, my large galvanized Ikea candle lantern, and a galvanized pot with pink flowers. This pot was also filled with a hanging pot of flowers from Lowes. Do you see how full the pot is? It is an easy way to get that look of abundance from your flowers.

On the right is a fern that also was in a hanging pot. I repotted him in a taller plastic pot that was out in someone trash last fall. The pot was still not as tall as I wanted, so I placed a few bricks from the yard for height.

There you have it, my take an a English Garden look on the front porch.
