This little table was given to me by a neighbor near our old house. Once upon a time I had a little side business painting furniture. People would give me items they no longer wanted, which was awesome! Except that sometimes you would come home to find things in your driveway, that you didn’t like or have room for. But I did like this table. I liked it enough to have on my front porch for years.
When I first got this little table he was painted white. It also looked like he could be a trunk, but it’s not. The top is attached and the bottom is open. His second coat of paint was black. That was when I was trying to get a more traditional look in my home. That didn’t last long, so here he is ready to be painted for the third time. Maybe third times a charm?
I didn’t want to buy paint for such a small project. So I mixed together a bunch of craft paints in a take out container. I used take out chopsticks to stir it. I even had enough to paint this little step stool as well. He lives on the front porch of our little rental house.
I painted out the details in yellow. Just the edges of the moldings and the top.
On the top I made a stripe pattern. After it was painted blue, I took one inch blue tape and made random stripes. I first painted the white stripes, then removed the tape. I let that dry, taped more stripes, and painted those green.
I really like the stripes, but they seemed too preppy for me. That was when I decided on the yellow. I felt it toned it down a bit. Just by adding one more color. I love my color.
Here he is with a little wood tray I got at an estate sale for 75 cents. I spray painted the tray with this cool orange-red color. Not preppy anymore.
I put a clear sealer on the stripe table top. And I put little plastic bumpers under the tray, so they won’t stick together in the sun.
Now they are just waiting for a new home on the Patio.
Do you like the stripes? Preppy?
Can you tell where I am taking the Patio?
Color. Lots of Color.
