14 inches of space!

Here is another look at the our kitchen. The small stove area. I love that I am taking a small room and making it into multiple postings. I still have another 3 or 4 spots to show you after this one.  ðŸ˜‰

When we moved into our little rental house, there was this empty space near the stove.  It is 14 inches wide and there is the gas line. What to do? I went to a reuse center and bought a small cabinet. It was priced at $15, what a steal. Then at the check out, all cabinets were on sale, 20% off. Even better. I took it home, cleaned it up and spray painted it a lovely blue.

We made a counter top out of cutting boards. It is so nice to have the extra counter space right next to the stove. It great for cooking, a place to put your spatula.

I decided to leave the original handles. I like they look retro. The cabinet is sitting on cardboard, so it doesn’t scratch the floor. You can still pull it out, if you need to get to the gas line. And we can take it with us when we move.

I painted the inside of the door two different colors of purple. I like the mottled look. We store all the cookie sheets, and cooling racks inside. Extra storage, have to love it. In the drawer are knives.

I love butter, my favorite food. So, the butter dish sits here. The tea pot, a cute whale container for the  spoons and spatulas all live here too. The paper straws are there because I think they are pretty. They bring more color to the room. The little mirror came from a thrift store. It is covered in stamps, I didn’t do it, but love the look. I think I got it for a $1. You know I love that.

Lobsters. Love lobsters. I have had the trivet for ten years maybe. So cute. The tray is from Ikea. We have 4 or 5 trays for this spot. I like to switch it up.
We decided to hang these magnetic strips for our knives. So nice to have them right there. When we hung them it reminded me of the Andy Warhol prints. I choose this one with the blue. It’s not the same blue as the cabinet, but it is so close. I love it. More color.
Who knew 14 inches could hold so much?
