I am taking part in a pretty cool challenge this month. It’s the $100 Room Challenge. The lovely Erin of lemonslavenderandlaundry.com is the host, and you can read about the challenge here on her site. A quick recap if the challenge is new to you- $100 to refresh or redecorate one room in one months time. I kinda showed up to the party a little late, so I have a little bit of catching up to do. I’m not doing any major projects, so this should be smooth sailing!! Well, it should, be 😉
If you missed my last post you can read how I decided to jump in for the challenge here and find out my plans for our one tiny Bathroom!
Here’s where I am at with the $100 challenge-
This week I did a MAJOR deep cleaning of our Bathroom. Scrubbed the whole room top to bottom. Not exciting before and after type of work, but work that needed to be done for sure. Nothing is better than a clean room! Zero dollars spent on cleaning, all supplies I had on hand.
I also went shopping! On my list of items for the Bathroom is a new shower curtain. Now, on my way to Target I was thinking I wanted a simple stripe. When I got there, I saw they had triangles too. I liked them both! This is the photo that I sent to the family for them to choose. I will hold off for the revel to show which one we all chose. But you can see part of the color pallet for the bathroom accessories- Black and White. The shower curtain that we chose cost- $19.99
Here’s a look at the start of the DIY art piece. I took a thrift store canvas that had been painted with a wooded scene and painted over it with white paint. This will be the base of my art piece. Cost- I had the canvas on hand, but when I thrifted it- $1.50. Paint is also from the stash, but a new can will cost you a couple of dollars.
Another little project that I shopped for was the window curtains. I found a sheer panel at Target, of course- for $4.99. It will need to be hemmed, but then I am going to add this cute pom-pom trim. The trim is also from Target, I got it a few months back at the Dollar Spot. But I checked at JoAnn’s and you can get trim for about 98¢ a yard. Which is just about what I paid for here. Cost- $7.99 if I include the trim cost.
The next budget purchase that I made was for the new Bathmat. I found this cool rag rug/ mat at Home Goods. It is a wonderful Teal color, and feels really lush. I have never had a mat like this before, so I’m not sure how I am going to like it. But I thought it was fun and the color will really pop in our tiny little bathroom. Cost- $9.99
I have been wanting to add a plant to our bathroom. And although I have NOT bought one yet, I was thinking about adding one of these super cool macrame hangers they have at JoAnn’s right now. I love the black and white stripe one, but I might just go with the natural to match the other ones I have in my house. As you can see they were on sale when I saw them, let’s hope they still are when I go back!
Okay, now this is a last minute unplanned project that my boyfriend and I just decided to do. We will be making an industrial style shelf over the toilet. We will place it at the sink level of the vanity to add more counter space in our tiny bathroom. I’m not sure how this one is going to come out! And it cost a little more than I thought that it would, $28.58 for all the parts and wood. BUT how exciting to try something new and unexpected!?
Kind of like this challenge 😉
How much money have I spent so far:
- shower curtain- $19.99
- thrift store canvas- $1.50
- curtain and trim- $7.99
- bathmat- $9.99
- industrial shelf supplies- $28.58
Total so far- $68.05
Left available to spend- $31.95
Well, that seems like still a pretty good amount left! I should be able to get a plant and hanger if I choose. And any other little odds and ends that might be needed. We will see!!

All of your finds are so fun! I can’t wait to see you pull it all together.
Thanks Kim! I am having fun, it’s my first time in the challenge. I love a good puzzle, and this fits the bill!
I just redid my bathroom {outside of the challenge cause that’s my guest room this time around – I was multi-tasking big time over here!} and I used the one on the right. Both are so fun though! Can’t wait to see what you choose and how this comes together.
Thanks for looking at my little space here Gabby! You’re too sweet.
Ohhh,..I love those plant hangers. And both shower curtains look great…I am leaning towards the simplicity of the stripes however. Can’t wait to see how it all turns out!
Thanks for checking out my little blog Emily. I really appreciate the support. I can’t wait to finish up and show you all the bathroom.
I’m loving that shower curtain! And the pom pom trim for the curtains!
Thanks, Emy! I love a little pom-pom any day!
YAY for successful shopping trips! Looks like you bought some wonderful items… and I’m excited to see that industrial shelf!
Thanks, Erin. That little shelf is turning out to be just what we needed!
