$100 Room Challenge- Am I too late? I don’t think so!

I am so excited to be participating in the $100 Room Challenge that is hosted by the lovely Erin from lemonslavendarandlaundry.com. In short, using only $100 in one month’s time to transform one room. A creative challenge as well as a budget challenge! I accept, but Am I too late? I don’t think so. I can get it together and do a couple of quick projects in one room. Now I have added another challenge for myself, a shortened time. Oh Boy, what have I gotten myself into?

What room could I use $100 to refresh and change up the decor a little bit? Our one and only BATHROOM.

It’s a room we all use on daily basis, and with the new year, it could use a new look. Let’s take a look back at how our tiny little bathroom has been decorated in the past. Don’t judge my bad photos too harshly, I am trying to get better.

This is how the Bathroom looked when we first moved in, and these photos are from the fall of 2014. Has it been that long? A drab yellow beige color on the walls, and white plastic mini blinds. Basic rental home garb. Nothing to write home about, but I did write a blog post back when I first started blogging. You can read that here.

We lived with that yellow beige bathroom for a while. I would change up the shower curtain once in a while to keep up with my need for change. But somehow I could never really like it.

Then after we had been in our rental home for a couple of years, I had decided that I could not live with the yellow beige color one minute longer. It had to go! And since we were planning to stay for a while, I decided to paint! What a difference a change of color can do! Paint is amazing. You can read about how one can of paint changed everything in this post.

The color change really brightens up this tiny little room. Also adding white accessories helped too. But my need for change won out again.

Which brings us to how our bathroom looks today. I only have one pretty good photo. It was posted on Instagram for a Photo a Day Challenge. What’s with me and challenges? I had been craving some brighter colors in our small bathroom. A bold print shower curtain, with a bead and pom-pom garland on the window, all have served me well.

I have really enjoyed this setup, but with the New Year- comes new Bathroom decor! Oh my need for change! So, where else can this go? Well, I have a plan!

It involves a couple of quick changes. I am still loving the wall paint color and we are renting so no major building changes. Everything that I am planning on will be super quick and easy. A couple of crafts, and a couple of budget purchases.

  • a new color pallet for all of the decorations
  • a new shower curtain in different colors and pattern
  • a new piece of DIY art. I am very excited about this one!
  • a new bath mat. Maybe a new color, or pattern.
  • updated curtains. A quick and easy DIY sewing project
  • updated garland for the windows. Another quick DIY craft!

Easy peasy, I can do that!!! And I have 17 days to do it! Oh, yeah!

Come back and see how I do! And check out the other’s who are doing the same challenge.
