Outdoor Entertaining on the Patio
Who is ready for another Sweet Link Up with my Friends Ashlee of Sweet Southern Oaks and Liz of Living with Liz? This time around we’re working with the theme of Summer BBQ.
Bohemian Style Patio
For my post, I am showing you our Boho Style Patio decorated for the Summer. With a close look at how we use it for everyday use and entertaining friends.
A Thrifted Dining Space
When entertaining outdoors on the Patio, it is so nice to have a space for Dining and for Serving. There is something about having a meal outside that just feels so Summer. We use this dining space for having our morning coffee or for our evening meals. A cozy place to sit and talk.
That table to the left is used for serving food. It’s close to the dining table, but with enough room for people to get what they need. And that table was found free by the side of the road- a common theme for this space. You know, I never understand how people can just throw good items away- but I will also always pick them up if I can!
Now I know that everything can’t be free, so with some careful shopping and thrifting, you can make an affordable outdoor dining space too. This table was a $40 Craigslist find and the wicker chairs were free by the side of the road. The leaf pattern rug is made from recycled plastic and was a gift from my children for Mother’s Day. I may have hinted what I wanted 😉 It can be found at Cost Plus World Market. And it’s on sale right now for just $19.99!
The string lights on the garage- we have had for a few years. They add so much sparkle to the space at night when we have friends over. These lights were super affordable at only about $12 a strand. Of course, I would love to get those beautiful Edison style patio lights someday, but until then these are so sweet.
This corner of the dining space has a small table that I found on a neighbors lawn extension 😉 I cleaned it up and painted it with a fun bright pattern using outdoor grade paint. This way the table and the colors are protected from the elements. The table is holding some decor and plants right now. But when we have friends over these items can be cleared away and we can use this small table for serving drinks.
It really is so nice to have an outdoor dining space. We use it for ourselves every day and for when we have company.
So, anyone coming over for drinks?
Our Cozy Boho Conversation Area
One the other side of the patio I have set up a nice conversation area with four chairs and lots of tables to sit your drink or plate of food on. With a second Cost Plus World Market rug to tie the two spaces together. I am so in love with this green on green leaf pattern. It gives the space a tropical vibe that just says “Summer”.
These chairs are from Target and are so comfortable! I had two from last year and decided this year when they had them again that I would get two more to create this conversation area. I find that people are more comfortable if they have a chair to themselves rather than sharing a sofa.
These two wicker tables were given to us by My Man’s parents. They had gotten them to put on their back patio but changed their minds about them. The side table was still in the box! Do I want brand new furniture for free? Why yes, please and thank you! I never say no to free furniture.
I like using the side table for display now, but it can easily be cleared off for company to use during a gathering.
See how close the conversation area is to the dining? And the matching rugs tie the two spaces together? The whole patio can seat up to 8 people comfortably and they can have one conversation.
I am so happy with how our Boho Patio came together this year. The design feels relaxed and inviting for guests to enjoy.
