When we moved into our little rental house, I wanted to add lots of color to my decor. This house has neutral painted walls and I needed color. I found this book of beautiful scrap book papers and made a gallery wall with them. All the frames came from the thrift store and were $1 or less. I spray painted all the frames a glossy black.
These photos are when I first hung the gallery wall. This was one of my first blog postings. No curtains have been hung yet.
I love the damask papers. I love tone on tone patterns. So, pretty.
But as it is with people who love to decorate……
I was ready for a change.
I found some wonderful scrap book paper on sale at Jo Ann’s. There was a little packet of embellishments too. I love the vintage feel of these papers.
I was looking to go for more of a neutral color story. But still have a nice contrast. All of these papers are a craft paper brown with black and gold printing.
The embellishments are a nice mix of neutrals and watercolors.
I left all the frames the shiny black.
This paper has a “handwriting” pattern, I layered the two cards on top with double sided tape.
This frame got a small stamp and a bird postcard.
This paper has a “music” liner notes look. Again more cards layered on top.
I love this paper so much!!!! I used it in three of the frames. That moth is too beautiful.
Another piece of the “handwriting” paper with a another postcard and a black and white moth.
A graph paper print with a moth and a game card of some kind.
I will be changing out the curtains. I am thinking of making a stripe curtain out of drop cloth.
More of that moth paper. I love all the details in the drawings.
I had the hardest time getting a good photo of this one. The print on the paper was lighter than the others. It is more graph paper with an architectural drawing. I layered a small moth, a ruler, and a “post mark”.
This paper has names of streets and places in Paris. I layered a calendar, and a few stamps.
I love this paper, it looks like newsprint that has printing over it. Again I layered embellishments over the top. The periodic table of elements, a 5 cent stamp, and a french seal.
More moths.
More newsprint paper with a clock face and a french card.
I love that you can get those big books of papers. They all are coordinated to match each other.
The embellishments just add that extra texture.
I love that even though I used the same papers repeatedly each frame is different.
The gallery wall is definitely neutral now. But it is no way plain and boring.
I love the look, it was easy to change out. And it didn’t cost too much either. I got the book of papers for $4, and the packet of embellishments for $3. So, for less than $10 I have a whole new look.
What do you think? Do you love it as much as I do?
Do you have gallery wall? What kind of art is in yours?
Thanks for stopping by!
