Hi There!
Okay, this will not be the most exciting posting.
But it will be another area of the house I have yet to show to you.
Our kitchen is small in our little rental house. Not much storage, or much counter space. You may remember the cabinet I painted and put it by the stove, or how I painted a sideboard Red. Both have added extra storage and extra counter space. Only thing was, there was no room left for food storage.
Enter bookcases, dollar store buckets, glass canning jars, and photo storage boxes.
These bookcases were in my office/craft room of my old house. They held books and magazines and craft supplies for many years.
This wall only held the refrigerator when we moved in. These three bookcases fit almost perfectly.
I put some Contact paper on the back panels of the bookcases to brighten them up. A pretty blue and white pattern.
On this day, I had just clean and organized all the shelves. It does not always look this good. 😉
Each shelf is for a different category of food staple.
The step stool sits here, mostly out of the way. The tall metal can is for trash, the small one is for food scraps to be composted.
The photo boxes hold small items to keep them neat and organized.
I just love these boxes for organizing things, and three fit almost perfect on the shelf.
I used black chalkboard labels for the tags. I used a silver Sharpie to write on the them.
I have found that chalk wipes away if your hands are wet. Crazy, I know!
Three of the shelves have these tiered steps for condiments. They making seeing things in the back so much easier.
What empty spaces?
We buy a lot of our spices in bulk, we keep them in glass canning jars.
Many of these jars came from Estate sales. It is amazing how many people buy them new, and never use them. I always find them in the basements of these houses.
I plan on putting chalkboard labels on these too, someday….
More canning jars for Flour, Sugar and such. They need some labels too.
These bookcases have given us so much extra storage. It is really great to have everything out in the open. You can find items pretty easily.
Okay- there you have it. A slightly boring posting about a pantry.
Thanks for stopping by!
