There is always that one week where I don’t get anything done- this was just that week
Thank goodness that the One Room Challenge is SIX weeks long. Whenever I am working on one of these challenges I always seem to have a week where I procrastinate. “Oh, that won’t take very long” or “I got time for that later” or “there’s no sun today, maybe I can take pictures tomorrow” Now here it is a week later and I don’t have anything to show you.
Hi, I’m Jackie. I am a guest participant in the One Room Challenge and I watch too much Netflix.
Maybe that’s why I can’t blog! 😉
Go and check out my posts for weeks one and two below:

When I tell you I didn’t get anything done, what I mean is that there is no “Wow!” transformation happening here this week. While there was a bit of progress on a few little projects. Let’s take a look at what I did manage to squeak out this week.
One Task from the to-do list is done! Paint the Front Door
We are renting our cute little house, but one of the first things I did when we first moved in was paint the front door. The house is brown as you can see from the door jam, and they had painted the door brown too. That was just too much brown going on for me. Painting the door is such a simple project, that when we move out I can always paint it back. You can see one of my very first blog posts about painting the door here in the post- The Front and Back Doors
Even though the front door doesn’t have much to do with the front living room space. Other than its location in the front room, I did want to freshen it up with new paint color and make it pretty again. One sample pot of a deep Navy Blue from the hardware store and three coats of paint later and the door was looking so much better. The best $4 spent so far for this makeover.
Making a mass produced item my own- A Diy craft anyone can do!
While I don’t have an after photo to show you this week, let me tell you a couple of the things I did to this mass-produced Macrame wall hanging. I had found this a couple of years ago at a discount store. And it was cheap! I mean like $5 cheap. I was going to use it in my bedroom, but it never made its way up on to the wall. Then last week I was looking at it and thought that I could dip dye the ends and maybe add some beads to make it a bit more special. And I have to say that it turned out pretty good. I will share an after photo in Week Four and maybe give it a post of its own.
A paint pen doodled flower pot
If you follow me on Instagram, you have seen my love of Grocery Store flowers and plants. It is amazing how over the last decade they have really upped the game in the flower department. At my grocery, they have house plants and orchids on a regular basis. Every once in a while I do splurge and buy a new one. This purple orchid with its multiple blooms open and more buds waiting caught my eye. But it came in a plain Jane white pot. Sorry, but that will not do!
I had the idea to doodle on the white pot with a blue Sharpie paint pen. Very similar to my DIY Shibori Inspired Easter Eggs. It was a quick and easy craft. I will be posting a step by step of how I doodled on this pot soon.
Cleaned out the Coat Closet- the messy before
It is finally looking like Spring here in Michigan. So it was time to clean up the coat closet. Again not much of a design statement in the front living room, but the closet is located behind the front door. And after the winter it is always a mess.
The Organized After!
I took an hour or so the other night to pull everything out of the coat closet and reorganize. I threw out some trash, put a few items in the wash, put other items in the garage sale box, and then put only the items we were keeping back in. The top three bins on the shelf hold the dog’s sweaters/ costumes, the vacuum cleaner bags, and reusable shopping bags for the grocery. I had two of the bins in my home decor stash- the two blue with white tie-dye stripes. Then I just ran out and got the tan and blue bin in the middle for a clean and organized look. Closet makeover- just $5 for the new bin!
I love your new sofa! I have one very similar and it’s sooooo comfy!
I found that I didn’t accomplish very much in week 3 either. Ordered some more items, picked up some accessories. I think you accomplished a good amount. Wishing you a productive week 4. Can’t wait to see your finished space!
I do love your sexy new sofa! Looking forward to seeing some of your reveals soon❤️
You’re right there’s always that week when not much goes on. Week 4 and 5 are usually the weeks when most items get crossed off! Good luck with next week’s progress 🙂
Last week was like that for me too. I took pics as paint was drying and wrote it up right after that. And now it’s Sunday and I haven’t done anything this week…
Hope you’re feeling more productive than me!
I was feeling a little ho-hum on my progress this week as well. It feels like I’ve done a tone of work but it just doesn’t look like it yet. Your space, however, definitely looks like you got a good bit done! That door color is fabulous and it was a good idea to get the coat closet taken care of. That orchid pot looks fantastic! I wouldn’t have realized it was doodled on.
Week 3 was a disaster for me! Hoping this week will be better. Great sofa!
Wow you made a lot of progress this week great job , closets are tough , lol. Marie Kondo would be proud.
