A couple of weeks ago during my One Room Challenge, I promised a post on how I made over a mass-produced Macrame wall hanging
This is a super simple DIY/craft that I think anyone can do! Let me tell you about the couple of simple steps I took to take this mass-produced Macrame wall hanging and make it all my own.
I had found this plain Jane Macrame wall hanging a couple of years ago at a discount store. And it was cheap! Like- $5 cheap. I was going to use it in my bedroom, but it never made its way up on to the wall. While I liked the price, and the Macrame wall hanging- it just wasn’t a piece to showcase- ya know?
It always starts with me asking- “What if I just…”
I was looking at it and thought that maybe I could just dip dye the ends. So I made up a quick bucket with some good old Rit Dye in Black and did a bit of an Ombre look to the plain beige cotton cording. I have to say that it turned out pretty good. The top of the Ombre is more of a Purple color, but I still like it quite a lot.
It still needed something more- how about wood craft beads?
Using some Cotton twine- I then tied on some plain wood craft beads at all of the points in the Macrame pattern. It gave the whole piece more depth and dimension.
If you can thread a bead and tie a knot- you can do this too!
Here you can see on the back how each bead was tied to the Macrame wall hanging. Easy- peasy.
With those super simple steps, I was able to take a Mass Produced Macrame wall hanging and customize it to make it my own!
If you try this project yourself- I want to know! Message me here on the blog- or over on Instagram! I am over there every day.
Thanks and until next time!
