Happy Holidays!
It’s December and Christmas is almost here! Today I am going to share some simple and quick last-minute DIY ornaments that anyone can make. These are a fun and inexpensive craft only using two items for supplies!
Let’s jump right on in!
I found so many paper gift tags at the craft store that were just too pretty. Many styles were just shaped like regular tags, but others are shaped like snowflakes, hearts, and stars. Looking at all of these gift tags I knew that they could be simple and easy DIY ornaments.
I bought a few different styles in both black and brown cardstock. I loved the ones that had the glitter trees on them- I ended up using those as-is. The plain gift tags needed just a little something else. Using a white Sharpie paint marker I knew I could doodle on some fun snowflakes and maybe a Scandi type twig tree or two. This was going to be fun and easy!
Using ribbon as inspiration
I found this black and white chalkboard style ribbon a few years ago. I love the look and style of chalkboard art. I used this as inspiration for many of the doodles I drew on the gift tags. This star ornament is one of my favorites! Again just using a white Sharpie paint pen I drew on leaf branch and simple details around the edges.
If you don’t feel like you can draw- look to Pinterest for chalkboard drawing inspiration. I have found so many tutorials and beautiful examples of ways that you too can draw. Just pick up that pen!

Wouldn’t this be a great craft to do with the ladies on girl’s night? Or give the kids a stack of paper shapes and markers to decorate for the tree! Decorating and crafting should be fun, so have some fun this season with a paint marker or two!
If you make any of these doodled ornaments make sure to tag me on Instagram! I would love to see what you come up with!
