Let’s get to decorating your holiday table for the season!

All the small things

When decorating I am always on a budget. I like the challenge of getting big style for little money. Today I have a few ideas for you that I think are easy to do and pretty affordable too!

To start a tablescape I like to use small seasonal touches to add a festive touch. Fresh mini pumpkins are an easy and affordable way to set the Fall holiday tone to your tablescape. I got my bag of 5 mini pumpkins for less than $3 at the grocery store.

Shop around for your holiday decor

Layer with a charger plate

Can you believe that these wood grain charger plates are from the dollar store? At $1 each, it is easy to change your chargers for any season. I have also seen them in silver, gold, red, and green colors. I’m sure that you can find dollar store chargers to fit your style and home. Or you can also easily paint or decoupage them for an affordable craft and update for your holiday table.

I love the dark Gray wood color of these charger plates and how they layer with our light blonde bamboo bowls. They would look amazing with vintage china, or a basic white plate.

Seasonal Fresh Flowers

Grocery store flowers can be so pretty!

Something I always put in my cart at the grocery store is flowers. Even just buying the single flower bunches can be so affordable at $3 to $6 each. The flowers above are a mix of two single flower bunches, and one clearance mixed flower bunch. For less than $14- I was able to make this rather large flower arrangement. I just love the pops of gold from the Sunflowers!

A pretty holiday table is easy using what you already have in the cupboard

Buying neutral basics make the small details stand out

When I shop for everyday basics I look for items that can be a neutral background for my pops of color. These bamboo and melamine bowls are an example of a basic that is beautiful in its own right. But lets the orange color of the mini pumpkin shine.

These heavy drinking glasses with the cobalt blue stripe are a thrift store find that we use every day. While the dark cobalt blue is not necessarily a neutral or fall color- I like the contrast they give to my boho holiday table. Blue is also a complimentary color to orange on the color wheel.

A decor item we can all use in our homes

Clear glass vases are a must for all styles of decor

One basic that I think every home needs is a large clear glass vase. They can be used for fresh flowers. Or can be filled with a vase filler such as pine cones, potpourri, marbles, beads, seashells, or anything else you collect- and then placed on a shelf. I found my clear glass vase at Ikea for $19.99 and I use it all the time.

Add pattern with your napkins

Pretty floral napkins are another special touch for very little money

Another super affordable way to add color, pattern, and texture to your table is with napkins. I found this set of four at the Target dollar spot for just $3 for the set. The bright colors and floral with fruit patterns can be used for summer or fall.

Are you doing a lot of entertaining during the holidays? Or have a bigger family? There are plenty of beautiful and affordable paper napkin options that won’t break the bank!

  1. Oh my goodness, why couldn’t I think of going to the dollar tree for chargers. Thanks for that. I spent over $2.50 for each of mine. Fresh flowers are a beautiful touch to your Thanksgiving table setting. I might need to buy those too.

  2. And I’m off to the dollar store for chargers! What a great idea, and I love how your tablescape came together!

  3. The Dollar Store carries chargers? Who knew? But, I really love those glasses with the cobalt blue stripe – Great find!
