Hi there! I am so glad you’re here!
Today, I have for you a super quick sneak peek at our back patio. It is far from done, and I have lots of plans to complete it. But for today, here is where we are.
The last couple of years that we have lived here in our little rental house, I have decorated with lot of different colors. Red, Blue, Green, Pink, Yellow, White, Black,… a lot of colors. This year I wanted to do a more strict color story. They say that when you decorate you should look to your wardrobe for inspiration. What do I wear 6 out of 7 days a week? A black T-shirt and Blue jeans. That said, this year I thought that I would try and Black, White, Silver, and Blue color palette. With Brown wood tones thrown in to balance it out. Like these wicker chairs.
I shared these photos on Instagram of this little Ikea shelf I have in the corner of the Patio. It is metal, and last summer I gave it a new coat of gray paint. It is the perfect backdrop for the white and black pots and candle holders.
I love the vibrant blue color of the Lobelia flowers. They are a trailing plant so when they fill in they will spill over the sides of pots.
This lime green vine is called Golden Creeping Jenny. Isn’t that a great name? I love the color contrast it has with the dark green leaves of the Lobelia.
The white lace top planter with the Lobelia is old and from Ikea, and I think its actually a candle lantern. You find a similar holder here. I like using items for a different propose than what they are designed for when I can. I find it makes for a more interesting home decor. I lined the top of the pot/lantern where the laser cut outs are, with a simple paper towel from the kitchen, before I added the plant and soil. It has really helped keep the dirt inside of the planter.
All of the black pots and this watering can were thrifted finds and all different colors to start with. I just used my new favorite spray paint finish of Rust-Oleam Designer Series Matte Spray Paint in Black. It has such a modern feel, and brings all of the collected items together and makes them cohesive.
These are my new thrifted chairs we found at an Estate sale. They are brand new, and in perfect condition. They were such a good deal, two for less than the cost of one new chair from Lowes. If you’re looking to get this chair for yourself, it is the Garden Treasures Severson Brown Wicker Stackable Patio Dining Chair. Now I just need cushions and pillows, and make some throw blankets out of fleece for cold nights. It will get there, as time and budget allow!
Thanks for stopping by!
