Cozy Eclectic Bedroom Tour

Our bedroom style?

It’s Warm, Cozy, and Eclectic!

Hi, there Friends! I am so happy that you’re here. I have joined up with my good friends Ashlee of Sweet Southern Oaks– she got a knack for all the sweet vintage Farmhouse feels. And Liz of Living with Liz– she is a Pinterest loving gal who is renovating an income property. This month we are looking at all the things for Bedrooms! Be sure to go and see what my gal pals have come up with to share with you. And of course, follow and connect with all of us on Instagram to see some of our everyday posts and activities.

Okay, let’s get going! This will be a small look into a space in my home that is still very much a work in progress- My Cozy and Eclectic Bedroom. Right now our bedroom- well, it’s in a state of transition. After the start of the new year I wanted, I mean- I craved a change. So, a few weeks ago I started switching out some of the decor elements to give our bedroom a little refresh. I cleaned and got new curtains. Then I moved some furniture pieces we had outgrown out and was looking for replacements. Then of course life just got in the way.

When Life gives you lemons…

A warm, cozy, eclectic, and thrifted bedroom.
The warm afternoon light made our bedroom so cozy!

Let’s just say that this thing called “life” has been so crazy! I started a new job- which I am loving by the way. Then we had some big items around the house go caput! A basement floor drain backed up, the washing machine broke, the water shut off valves to the washer started leaking, and up next, we have to replace the cracked sink in our bathroom.

Why do all of these items involve water? Why does it always have to be water? Ugh. I am not comfortable with plumbing.

Your Bedroom should be a place to escape

Layers of colors and pattern add to the warm cozy vibe in our bedroom

At least I have a warm and cozy bedroom to relax and sleep in when life goes upside down. Today I am only going to share just the bedside of our cozy eclectic bedroom. Because it might not all be that cozy. What you can’t see is all of our clothes and shoes on open metal shelves. We are still trying to decide the direction of the furniture that we need to replace. And trying to match style and budget is tricky sometimes.

If you would like to see my last Master Bedroom Tour from quite a while ago (2015- can it really have been that long?) you can check it out here.

Layers of Pillows and Patterns

Bedroom pillows
Layering pillows is a quick and easy way to add color, pattern, and texture to your bed

Layering piles of pillows on the bed is such an easy way to change the look in your bedroom. We have three large euro sized pillows- 26″ square, at the back of the bed against the headboard. I love these pillows, they’re from Ikea and so are the linen-like covers. I find them to be so affordable. (not a sponsored post, I will always post things that I have and like to use in my home.) The front embroidered pillow is also from Ikea but has been discontinued.

Adding texture and pattern:

I love to layer different patterns with my bed pillows. The embroidered pillow in front has a fun Otomi pattern with lots of warm colors- blue, brown, rust-red, green, and beige-gold. Placed behind that is a gray and white medallion pattern bed pillow. The white is a nice bright spot in the mix. Then followed by a solid navy bed pillow to break up all the patterns a little bit. And finally back to the linen-like oatmeal color of the Ikea euro pillows.

a knit blanket and paisley pattern comforter on our bed
Using neutral colors is a must in a bedroom, but add some patterns to make it interesting!

Keeping the base of the bed linens in neutral colors keeps the bedroom calm and relaxing. This comforter was found on clearance for a steal! I love the neutral oatmeal color and of course the off-white paisley pattern. This tone on tone pattern adds a subtle texture to the bedlinens. Then I layered a black and cream knit throw blanket for more texture and color.

Add collectibles to put some personality into your room

Collected and curated wall shelves in the bedroom.
Wall shelves are an easy and budget-friendly way to add decor to a bedroom.

A couple of years ago we made these pallet wood shelves to display some of our collectibles in our bedroom space. Having these simple wall shelves also adds some height to this side of the room. Want to make shelves for your home? Go to the hardware store and pick up a few simple metal brackets, and some pinewood planks at the correct depth. Cut, sand, stain your wood, hang the brackets, and you’re done! Easy-Peasy!

Some framed photos of the two of us and a few “You and Me” signs makes this a very personal space. A few vases, filled glass jars, bottles, and a couple decorative boxes round out this vignette. I always shop my house when making vignettes- moving your decor from room to room keeps your home fresh!

I hope that your bedroom is warm and cozy too!
